Hiding Behind Your Comfort Zone

By Ontario O. Stallings

With the uncertainty of today's economy, it seems that people are starting to adjust to the economic downturn, but not in a positive way! We're becoming immune to rising costs and less money. We're starting to accept struggle oppose to looking for a solution to the struggle. We're adjusting to dependency and moving further away from independence. It's actually, in my opinion, becoming sickening or a sickness.

I have spoken to people and they feel their only solution is to leave this earth. I've spoken to others who have just gotten so used to having nothing all over again, they'd rather keep it that way! Without even me asking them why, I can tell by their reasoning is that they have become comfortable, complacent in doing nothing! It's hard to find work, some have reverted to going back to school just to accumulate more debt, but it's money to live on for the meantime. Others don't mind sitting in government offices for hours a day to get what's called free money. Technically it's not free, you have to be looking for work and providing proof, or they'll have you basically working for them for a few hundred dollars a month. Others do odd jobs in conjunction with the other "methods" described above to, I guess, make it work.

I call it the comfort zone, because it seems that these people are near hopelessness. They feel that since the government let us down, they owe us now so we'll just sit back and wait for them to fix it. But until then, let them "bail us out"! That's not a bad thought, but we're not the ones getting bailed out, we're being "jailed"! Think about it, we're the ones out of work, constantly being laid off, losing our homes, committing suicide, accumulating mounds of bad credit with no end in sight. The experts say otherwise, but they never saw this coming; and if they did, they sure didn't warn anybody!

My thoughts are this; we need to fend for ourselves and get ourselves out of this situation. I've been out of work for 2 years now and not complaining. I didn't want to go out to work anyway, so they just helped me out. I took the opportunity and figured out what will keep me from even having to go out here in the wild to find another job! When one thing didn't work, I tried something else. When that didn't work, I revised it and got better results, and so on.

People, there are plenty of ways to make money online, to the tune of $50, $75, $100 or more per day. There are all types of affiliate programs, sites paying to give reviews, rate things, blog, network, and so forth! We now have the freelance sites, where people and companies are actually looking to hire people to do things for them, either for a fixed price or hourly wage! You're paid to try products and service online now, tons of ways to make money online!

Then offline as well, it's the same situation, but you just have to be proactive! So please everyone, lets not get stuck in our comfort zones and turn this mess around the government started ourselves!!
